Egypt begin North Africa Championship campaign against Libya

Egypt’s 2007-born youth team begin their North Africa Championship campaign against Libya at the Suez Canal Authority Stadium, with kick-off scheduled for 8pm.

Egypt’s starting line-up is: Omar Abdel Aziz, Nour Ashraf, Eyad Medhat, Mohamed Awad, Mohanad El-Shamy, Mohamed Samir “Konta”, Mohamed Raafat, Mohamed Hamad, Omar El-Azab, Anas Roshdy and Mohamed Haitham.

The substitutes are Eyad Tamer, Yassin Atef, Mahmoud Salah, Abdullah Badeir, Younes El-Mallah, Omar Amin, Ali El-Gargary, Mohamed Farag and Adham Karim.

Egypt are hosting the North Africa Championship in Ismailia from 24 September to 6 October.

The tournament features Egypt, Libya, Tunisia, Algeria and Morocco. The top two teams will qualify for the Africa Cup of Nations, which is due to take place in Ghana in February 2027.

The opening match of the competition ended with Algeria and Tunisia drawing 1-1.
