Mauritania name starting XI for Central African Republic qualifier in Casablanca

Mauritania have named their starting line-up for Thursday’s Africa Cup of Nations 2027 qualifier against Central African Republic in Casablanca, with coach Aritz Lopez Garai choosing a side aimed at making a winning start to the campaign.

Mamadou Diop takes his place in goal for The Mourabitounes. His experience and composure will be important as Mauritania look to control the defensive phases of the match.

Aly Abeid captains the team, with Jordan Lefort, Lamine Ba and Nouh Med El Abd completing the defensive line. Mohsine Bodda is also included in the starting XI.

Mauritania will look to Aboubakary Koita, Idrissa Thiam, Dawda Camara and Oumar Ngom to provide the attacking threat against Central African Republic. The four players are expected to lead the hosts’ efforts in the opposition half.

Central African Republic, known as The Fauves of Bas-Oubangui, have won one and lost two of their previous meetings with Mauritania.
