Vieira confident Senegal are ready for Mozambique in CAN 2027 opener

Patrick Vieira says Senegal will be prepared for the challenge posed by Mozambique as he takes charge of his first competitive match as coach of the Lions of Teranga.

Senegal begin their CAN 2027 qualifying campaign against Mozambique on the opening matchday, with Vieira encouraged by the attitude shown by his squad during their preparations.

The former France midfielder believes his players have demonstrated both commitment and concentration, while also enjoying the opportunity to reunite before the important fixture.

“We are expecting a difficult match. But from what I have seen, particularly the pleasure the players have taken in coming together, as well as their concentration and attention to detail, I have no doubt that, in terms of mentality, physically and tactically, we will be ready to face a good Mozambique team,” Vieira told reporters.

The Senegal coach’s comments came before the first official game of his tenure, with the team set to begin their bid to qualify for CAN 2027.
