Reghecampf leaves ES Tunis to return as Steaua București head coach

Former Espérance Sportive de Tunis head coach Laurențiu Reghecampf has left the Tunisian club to take charge of Romanian side Steaua București.

The Romanian coach ends his spell with the North African giants as he returns to familiar surroundings, having previously managed Steaua during one of the club’s most successful periods in recent history.

Reghecampf’s appointment marks a homecoming as he takes over the Bucharest club with the task of leading them through the domestic campaign and their European ambitions.

His departure brings an end to his time with Espérance, one of Africa’s most decorated clubs, where he was entrusted with maintaining the team’s dominance in Tunisia while competing on the continental stage.

The move reunites Reghecampf with a club where he enjoyed considerable success during his previous stint, winning domestic trophies and establishing a reputation for attractive, attacking football.

Steaua will now look to draw on the 50-year-old’s experience as they seek to challenge for silverware, while Espérance begin the search for a successor ahead of the next phase of their season.
