Egypt v Angola: Cairo metro and monorail services extended for AFCON qualifier

Egypt’s Ministry of Transport has extended operating hours on Cairo’s metro network and the East Nile Monorail for Friday’s Africa Cup of Nations 2027 qualifier against Angola.

Services will run until 02:00 on Saturday, one hour later than the usual closing time of 01:00. The extension applies to all metro lines and to the East Nile Monorail route between Cairo Stadium station and Lotus station.

Egypt begin their 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign against Angola at Cairo International Stadium, with the visitors travelling to the Egyptian capital for the opening fixture.

Match details and ticket prices

The match will be played on Friday, 25 September, with kick-off scheduled for 22:00.

It will be broadcast on beIN Sport 1, with Ali Mohamed Ali providing commentary. In Egypt, the game will also be shown on terrestrial television via ON Sport, with Mohamed El-Kawaliny commentating.

Tazkarti has opened ticket sales for the match. The Egyptian Football Association previously announced prices for Egypt’s games against Angola and South Africa, with each match set to be attended by 40,000 supporters.

– Third class: 20 Egyptian pounds – Second class: 50 Egyptian pounds – First class: 150 Egyptian pounds – Club level: 300 Egyptian pounds

Egypt and Angola also met at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, drawing 0-0 in the group stage.

Egypt have never lost to Angola. The teams have played eight times, with Egypt winning four matches and the other four ending in draws.

Egypt’s qualifying group also contains Malawi and South Sudan.
