Siwelele set to keep Godfrey Mosoetsa as interim coach after international break

Siwelele are expected to retain Godfrey Mosoetsa as their interim coach when domestic football resumes after the FIFA international break, as the club continues its search for a permanent successor to Lehlohonolo Seema.

SABC Sport understands the club has reassessed its coaching plans after previously considering Alexander Lafitte as a leading candidate for the role. Siwelele are now reconsidering their preferred option while discussions over Seema’s settlement and departure remain potentially unresolved.

Seema was placed on ice after a run of poor results, prompting the club to explore alternatives. Mosoetsa was handed responsibility for the final two matches before the international break, with mixed results.

His first game in charge ended in a 3-0 defeat by Mamelodi Sundowns before Siwelele drew 1-1 with Golden Arrows.

Mosoetsa also leads Siwelele’s Diski Challenge side. Despite taking temporary charge of the senior team, he publicly indicated that he was not interested in becoming the permanent coach.

However, the coach’s continued involvement with the first team suggests Siwelele may now be considering extending his interim spell rather than immediately appointing a new manager.

Siwelele are due back in Betway Premiership action on October 18, when they host Polokwane City at the Dr Petrus Molemela Stadium in Mangaung. Current indications are that Mosoetsa will be in the dugout for that fixture.

The situation could still change if Siwelele make progress in their search during the lengthy break. The additional time gives the club an opportunity to settle on its preferred candidate and complete the process of appointing Seema’s successor.

For now, Mosoetsa is set to remain in charge as Siwelele consider their next move and attempt to bring stability to a team that has endured a difficult start to the campaign.
