Mohamed Salah wants Egypt to build on strong results and keep fans united

Egypt captain Mohamed Salah says the national team are determined to continue the run of positive results that has brought supporters together behind the Pharaohs.

Egypt begin their qualification campaign for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations against Angola at Cairo International Stadium on Friday.

Speaking while Minister of Youth and Sports Jawhar Nabil attended the team’s training session, Salah said the players wanted to maintain the progress made under manager Hossam Hassan.

“We hope to build on what we have achieved recently with the coaching staff led by Hossam Hassan,” Salah said.

“We have managed to make the Egyptian people happy, and I hope this situation continues for as long as possible.”

The Trabzonspor winger added that Egypt had enough quality within their squad to deliver further success.

“We have players of the highest level and can achieve things that will make the Egyptian people happy,” he said. “God willing, what is coming will be better.”

Jawhar Nabil attended the training session to offer his support to the Egypt players before their opening fixture against Angola.

Following Friday’s match, Egypt will face South Sudan in their second game of the qualifying campaign next Tuesday.

They will then play South Africa in a friendly on 4 October.
