Three Zamalek players, including Amr Nasser, took part in part of Wednesday’s team training as they continue their preparations for the club’s next Egypt Capital Cup match against ZED after the international break.
Nasser, Ahmed Abdelrahim “Eisho” and Ahmed El Gafali joined the squad for part of the session at the auxiliary pitch of Air Defence Stadium.
The trio had completed the rehabilitation programmes prescribed for them in recent weeks before being cleared to return to group training.
Head coach Moataz Gamal and his staff placed particular emphasis on technical work during the session. The players were split into two groups for a tactical exercise designed to prepare them for their upcoming Egypt Capital Cup and Premier League fixtures.
Zamalek ended the training session with a short-sided game, allowing the players to put into practice the work covered during the tactical section.
The club’s next competitive fixture will be against ZED in the Egypt Capital Cup. The players had been given five days off after Zamalek’s 1-0 victory over Ghazl El Mahalla in the fifth round of the Premier League.
That result moved Zamalek to 13 points at the top of the table, level on points with Al Ahly but ahead on goal difference. The two sides are scheduled to meet in the much-anticipated sixth-round match on 11 October.
Ghazl El Mahalla remain bottom of the league with one point from one draw and four defeats.
Ahmed Sherif scored his second successive league goal for Zamalek in the win over Ghazl El Mahalla. He had previously found the net against Abu Qir Fertilizers in the fourth round.
Sherif has now made 11 goal contributions for Zamalek in 37 appearances, scoring six goals and providing five assists.
The forward also created two goals in Zamalek’s 4-0 victory over Port Djibouti in the preliminary round of the CAF Champions League.
