Jean-Paul Akono, the former interim coach of the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon, has been demanding eight months of salary arrears, totaling 80 million FCFA (approximately 122,000 euros), from the Cameroonian Football Federation (Fécafoot). Akono, who took over the national team, faced protests and criticism during his tenure. Although he is set to be paid, his dismissal is imminent, with Volker Finke expected to replace him as the coach of the Indomitable Lions. Akono resorted to a hunger strike, starting on May 18, 2013, to draw attention to his demands and has faced deteriorating health conditions, leading to hospitalization.
