Al Ahly revise international-break plans with two friendlies

Al Ahly have changed their preparations for the current international break and will play two friendly matches before returning to competitive action.

The adjustments were made after the date of their Egypt League Cup match against Assiut Petroleum was brought forward by one day. The fixture will now take place on 7 October rather than 8 October.

Football director Wael Gomaa confirmed on the club’s official website that Al Ahly would face Al-Ittihad Al-Misrati of Libya on 28 September, before meeting Misr Lel Makkasa on 2 October.

The revised programme follows a four-day break granted to the players after domestic competitions were suspended for the international window. The squad returned to training at Al Ahly’s El Tetsh Stadium on Monday evening to resume preparations for the matches ahead.

Al Ahly head coach Hussein Ammouta has also returned to Cairo after completing his holiday in Morocco and will resume leadership of the team.

The Egyptian giants are scheduled to face Assiut Petroleum in the Egypt League Cup. They are in Group C alongside Eastern Company, ENPPI, El Gouna, Assiut Petroleum and Arab Contractors.

Egyptian clubs will return to action after the international break for the opening round of the Egypt League Cup, before the Egyptian Premier League resumes. The domestic season will then pause again in November for another international break.

Al Ahly will be the away team when they face Assiut Petroleum at Al Salam Stadium.

The match will be played on Wednesday, 7 October, with kick-off scheduled for 17:00. It will be broadcast on ON Sport.
