Ajax monitor 15-year-old Morocco talent Ilyas Houira at FC Copenhagen

Dutch giants Ajax have joined a growing list of European clubs monitoring Moroccan youth international Ilyas Houira, despite the midfielder being only 15 years old.

The FC Copenhagen youngster has reportedly attracted interest from some of Europe’s biggest clubs, with Ajax now among those keeping a close eye on his development.

According to Danish sports outlet Tipsbladet, the Dutch club face competition from Borussia Dortmund, Manchester United, Arsenal, Chelsea and Barcelona for the highly rated teenager.

European giants tracking Houira

Several clubs are understood to have sent scouts to Denmark to watch Houira in person, while teams from Spain and France have also reportedly expressed an interest in the midfielder.

The growing attention highlights the potential surrounding a player who is still at the beginning of his development and has yet to make his senior debut.

Houira currently plays for FC Copenhagen after joining the Danish club from AGF earlier this year.

He signed a three-year contract with Copenhagen which runs until the summer of 2029.

Morocco connection adds to interest

Houira’s emergence will also be closely followed in Morocco because of his international background.

Although the teenager holds Danish nationality, he also has Moroccan citizenship and has represented Morocco at youth level.

He made his debut for Morocco’s Under-16 side last summer before subsequently receiving a call-up to the Under-17 squad.

His involvement with Morocco’s youth teams gives the North African country an interest in the development of a player who is already attracting attention from some of Europe’s biggest clubs.

No immediate move expected

Despite the reported interest, there is no indication that Houira is close to joining Ajax or any of the other clubs monitoring him.

At 15, the midfielder remains focused on his development at youth level, with Copenhagen holding his registration until 2029.
