Eliesse Ben Seghir begins individual training at Bayer Leverkusen
Eliesse Ben Seghir began Bayer Leverkusen’s new training week away from the main group as he continues managing a minor muscular problem.
The Morocco international worked individually on a separate pitch during Tuesday’s public session. The decision comes shortly after his return from a lengthy injury absence, making the club understandably cautious with the 21-year-old attacker.
Ben Seghir recently made his comeback in Leverkusen’s Europa League victory over NK Celje, where he collected his first competitive minutes of the season. However, his return was interrupted soon afterwards when he was left out of the squad for Sunday’s 2-0 Bundesliga win against RB Leipzig.
According to reports, Ben Seghir’s absence was caused by slight muscle tightness rather than a fresh injury. The current international break gives him additional time to recover fully without the immediate pressure of another competitive fixture.
The Moroccan was not selected for international duty, so he will remain in Leverkusen and continue his rehabilitation under the club’s supervision. His short-term objective is to rebuild his workload gradually and regain the fitness required for regular first-team involvement.
Leverkusen will be encouraged that the issue is not considered a new injury, but the club is unlikely to rush him back. Ben Seghir’s careful return should help prevent another setback as he works towards full training.
