Nathan Tella returns to full Bayer Leverkusen training

Nathan Tella has returned to full team training with Bayer Leverkusen, marking an important step in his recovery from muscular problems.

The 27-year-old forward had been unavailable since the end of August and had not played for Leverkusen since the German Cup match against SV Wehen Wiesbaden. His absence covered five competitive fixtures: four Bundesliga games and the Europa League opener against NK Celje.

Tella’s return during the international break gives him valuable time to rebuild his training rhythm without immediate match pressure. Bayer had already hoped that the attacker would be ready to rejoin the squad after the international interruption, and completing the entire session represents encouraging progress.

Leverkusen’s next competitive fixture is scheduled for October 10, when they travel to face Mainz 05. If Tella remains free from discomfort and continues training normally, he could be considered for selection.

His comeback would provide Leverkusen with another energetic option in attack. Tella’s pace, movement and ability to contribute from wide positions have made him a useful part of the squad, although the club is likely to manage his workload carefully.

After several weeks on the sidelines, the immediate priority is to regain sharpness and avoid another setback. For Tella, the full training session offers a welcome sign that his return to competitive action is moving closer.
