Zamalek resumed training on Tuesday as they began preparations for their upcoming Egypt Capital Cup fixture against ZED, with coach Moataz Gamal promoting two players from the club’s youth academy.
The first-team squad worked at the auxiliary pitch of Air Defence Stadium after being given five days off following their 1-0 victory over Ghazl El Mahalla in the fifth round of the Premier League.
Gamal held a meeting with the players before the session, using it to encourage them to remain focused and give their best in the coming period. He also stressed the importance of maintaining the team’s winning run in their next matches.
The Zamalek manager highlighted the significance of the weeks ahead, with the club due to compete in important fixtures in the Premier League, the Egypt Capital Cup and the CAF Champions League.
The training session included an intensive physical programme overseen by Portuguese fitness coach Nuno Costa. It began with the players running around the pitch before they moved on to light ball exercises.
The coaching staff also concentrated on increasing the players’ physical workload as the squad returned to full preparation for the match against ZED.
As part of the club’s policy of giving promising academy players the opportunity to train with the senior side, Zamalek have promoted midfielder Hossam Ashour El-Teki, who was born in 2007, and midfielder Mohamed Wanees, born in 2008.
