Three Egyptian referees appointed for North Africa Under-20 qualifiers

Three Egyptian officials have been selected to referee matches at the North Africa qualifiers for the Africa Cup of Nations Under-20 tournament.

The competition will be hosted by Egypt from 24 September to 6 October, with the participating teams competing for places at the continental finals.

The Union of North African Football Federations confirmed the appointments through its official account. Hamada El-Qalawy will serve as a referee, while Mohamed Magdy Soliman and Islam Abu El-Ata have been named assistant referees.

Egypt will be joined in the tournament by Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia and Libya, making five teams in total.

The top two sides will qualify for the Africa Cup of Nations, which is scheduled to be held in Ghana in February 2027.

The continental tournament will also provide a route to the next FIFA Under-20 World Cup. Four teams from the Africa Cup of Nations will qualify for the global competition.

The next FIFA Under-20 World Cup will be hosted jointly by Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan in May and June 2027, with 24 national teams taking part.
