Anthony Martial turns down £13m offer as Russian clubs join race for former Manchester United striker

Anthony Martial has rejected a £13m offer from Al-Ittihad Tripoli, with clubs from the Russian Premier League now showing interest in the former Manchester United forward.

The 30-year-old Frenchman is a free agent after leaving Monterrey midway through a two-year contract earlier this summer. He is now considering his next move, with interest also reported from Spain, including Malaga, according to the British newspaper The Mirror.

Martial left Manchester United two years ago after nine seasons at Old Trafford. He subsequently joined Greek club AEK Athens and is currently looking for a new team after ending his spell in Mexico.

French newspaper L’Equipe reports that CSKA Moscow and Krasnodar are among several Russian clubs interested in signing him. Martial is also said to have rejected an approach from French club Auxerre earlier this summer.

According to Foot Mercato, Al-Ittihad Tripoli offered Martial a net salary of £8.6m over two years, as well as a £4.3m signing-on bonus. The combined value of the proposed package amounted to £13m.

The Libyan club signed former Southampton and Morocco winger Sofiane Boufal earlier this month, but Martial chose not to accept their offer.

Martial has made only 53 appearances during the past two seasons since leaving Manchester United. He scored nine goals for AEK Athens, but managed only one goal for Monterrey before returning to Europe.

His next destination remains undecided, with interest now coming from Russia and Spain following his decision to turn down the offer from Al-Ittihad Tripoli.
