Cameroon legend Idriss Carlos Kameni appointed Haiti goalkeepers coach

Former Cameroon international goalkeeper Idriss Carlos Kameni has taken another step in his coaching career after being appointed goalkeeping coach of the Haiti national team.

Kameni, who enjoyed a distinguished career between the posts for both club and country, will now work with Haiti’s goalkeepers as part of the national team’s technical staff.

The appointment marks a new chapter for the former Indomitable Lions shot-stopper, who has transitioned from playing to coaching after years of experience at the highest level of the game.

Kameni represented Cameroon during an accomplished international career and was part of a generation of players who competed on the biggest stages of African and world football.

At club level, he built extensive experience in European football, playing in France, Spain and Turkey. His longest spell came in Spain, where he established himself as a reliable goalkeeper and gained valuable experience competing in top-flight football.

That wealth of experience is expected to prove valuable in his new role, with Kameni now tasked with helping develop and prepare Haiti’s goalkeepers at international level.

The former Cameroon goalkeeper’s move into coaching continues his transition away from the pitch, with his knowledge of elite football and years of experience between the posts providing a strong foundation for his work on the technical bench.

His appointment with Haiti gives Kameni an opportunity to further establish himself as a coach while contributing to the development of the country’s national team goalkeepers.
