Antoine Semenyo ruled out of Ghana squad with ankle injury

Antoine Semenyo has been left out of Ghana’s squad for the September international window because of an ankle injury, according to Ghanaian website 3Sports.

The Manchester City player is suffering from swelling in his ankle and will miss Ghana’s upcoming fixtures.

Semenyo’s absence follows the earlier withdrawal of Mohammed Kudus from the Black Stars squad. Ghana manager Carlos Queiroz also ruled Kudus out because of injury.

Ghana are preparing to face Cote d’Ivoire and Gambia in qualifying for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations.

The Black Stars will travel to Bouake to play Cote d’Ivoire on Thursday 24 September before returning home to face Gambia at Accra stadium on Tuesday 29 September.

Ghana will then play a friendly against Morocco on 4 October.

The team are in Group C of the Africa Cup of Nations qualifying competition alongside Cote d’Ivoire, Somalia and Gambia.

Ghana did not qualify for the most recent Africa Cup of Nations, which was held in Morocco.
