Soufiane Faouzi ready to fight for Morocco in 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers

Soufiane Faouzi has returned to the Morocco squad for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers and says he is ready to represent the Atlas Lions.

The Schalke 04 midfielder made his first appearance for the national team in May. Although he was not selected for the 2026 World Cup, Faouzi says his initial experience gave him an understanding of the group and the standards required to wear the Morocco shirt.

Speaking to the media after Morocco’s first training session, Faouzi described the responsibility he feels when wearing the national team’s colours. He said representing his country was a demanding commitment, but one he was prepared to accept.

“I want to fight for my country’s team. I am ready. We are the Atlas Lions and we have to fight,” said Faouzi.

His return comes as Morocco begin their preparations for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign.
