Juventus plot January move for Algeria and Manchester City defender Rayan Aït-Nouri

Juventus are reportedly preparing to reignite their interest in Manchester City left-back Rayan Aït-Nouri when the January transfer window opens.

The Turin giants remain keen on the 25-year-old Algerian defender and are looking to take advantage of his uncertain situation at the Premier League champions.

According to reports, Juventus have not abandoned their plans to strengthen the left side of their defence with Aït-Nouri and could reopen negotiations with Manchester City in January.

The Bianconeri had already tested the waters towards the end of the summer transfer window, approaching City with a loan proposal that included an option to buy. However, the English club rejected the offer.

Aït-Nouri’s limited playing time at the Etihad Stadium could now encourage Juventus to make another approach.

The Algerian joined Manchester City from Wolverhampton Wanderers in the summer of 2025 in a deal reportedly worth £31 million, but he has struggled to establish himself as a regular starter under head coach Enzo Maresca.

The defender has found competition for his position from Nico O’Reilly and Joško Gvardiol, restricting his opportunities since his move to Manchester.

Aït-Nouri has made just 105 minutes of appearances across all competitions this season, increasing speculation over whether he could consider a move away from the club in January.

Juventus, meanwhile, are understood to be looking for a specialist left-back, with head coach Luciano Spalletti keen to strengthen the position.

The Algerian’s situation could therefore present an opportunity for the Serie A giants, who are expected to assess the possibility of bringing him to Turin when the transfer window reopens.

During the 2025/26 campaign, Aït-Nouri made 17 Premier League appearances for Manchester City, although his season was disrupted by injuries and his involvement with Algeria at the Africa Cup of Nations.

The defender remains under contract with City until the summer of 2030, meaning any potential deal would depend heavily on the English club’s willingness to negotiate.
