Ghana add nine players to squad for 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers

Ghana manager Carlos Queiroz has called up nine additional players after medical assessments changed the composition of his squad for the upcoming international window.

The Black Stars are preparing for a demanding schedule featuring 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matches against Cote d’Ivoire and The Gambia, followed by an international friendly against Morocco.

The defensive additions are Jonas Adjetey of VfL Wolfsburg, Alidu Seidu of OGC Nice, Ebenezer Annan of Rapid Bucuresti and Rockson Yeboah of Osasuna.

Rahim Ibrahim, who plays for Slovan Bratislava, has been added to the midfield group.

The four attacking reinforcements are Brandon Thomas-Asante of Coventry City, Mohammed Fuseini of Derby County, Benjamin Tetteh of Kalba and Felix Afena-Gyan of Igdır FK.

The changes were made after medical evaluations carried out ahead of the international fixtures. Queiroz’s coaching staff have strengthened the squad across defence, midfield and attack as they prepare for the matches.

Ghana will face Cote d’Ivoire on 24 September 2026 in the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers before playing The Gambia on 29 September.

The Black Stars will then meet Morocco in an international friendly on 4 October.

The expanded squad gives Queiroz further options as Ghana continues its preparations for the forthcoming qualifying campaign.
