Eintracht Frankfurt plan new deal for German-Ghanaian winger Ansgar Knauff

Eintracht Frankfurt are reportedly preparing to extend the contract of German-Ghanaian attacking player Ansgar Knauff after his return from a thigh injury.

The 24-year-old has returned to action after several weeks on the sidelines, with reports suggesting Frankfurt want to secure his long-term future at the club.

Frankfurt preparing new contract for Knauff

According to BILD, Eintracht Frankfurt are planning to open talks over a premature contract extension for Knauff during the current season.

The winger’s existing deal runs until 2028, but the Bundesliga club are keen to strengthen their commitment to the former Borussia Dortmund player.

Knauff joined Frankfurt in January 2022 and has since become one of the longest-serving professionals in the current squad, behind veteran Timothy Chandler.

Despite Frankfurt’s intention to extend his contract, there is no immediate pressure on either side to reach an agreement.

The club’s priority is first for Knauff to regain his best form following his recent injury.

Knauff makes return against Freiburg

Knauff made his comeback in Frankfurt’s 2-2 draw against SC Freiburg at the weekend after several weeks out.

The player was delighted to return to the pitch and is now focused on building his fitness and contributing to the team.

“It feels great to be back on the pitch. The injury a few days before the league opener was a bitter blow. Luckily, everything went relatively quickly. Now I feel very fit and ready for more,” said Knauff.

With his current contract running until 2028, Frankfurt have time on their side as they look to secure the attacking player’s future beyond his existing agreement.
