Mohamed Amoura quickly becomes Nice fan favourite

Mohamed Amoura has quickly become one of OGC Nice’s most popular new arrivals after making an immediate impression since joining the club on loan from Wolfsburg.

The 26-year-old Algeria international was also considered by Lyon and Rennes during the transfer window, but Nice ultimately secured his services for the season. The agreement includes a €20 million purchase option, although the fee means his long-term future on the French Riviera remains uncertain.

Amoura has started twice in his first three matches and scored his first goal for the club during Nice’s 2-1 victory over Lille. His performance at the Allianz Riviera delighted supporters, who appreciated his fearless approach and willingness to compete for every ball.

His intensity has also impressed his teammates. Captain Axel Witsel said: “When we go forward in transition, we know Mohamed is someone who goes at 2,000 kilometres per hour. He is quite calm and composed in front of goal. I am very happy for him, and especially for us and the supporters.”

Coach Olivier Pantaloni praised Amoura’s commitment, saying: “Amoura is an extremely generous player.”

The versatile forward can operate centrally or from the left, potentially forming an exciting partnership with Elye Wahi.
