FIFA has released the list of nominees for the best women’s player in the world for 2013. The 10 candidates include two Germans, two Swedes, two Japanese, two Americans, one Brazilian, and one Canadian. Notably, there is no representation from African players. The final selection will be made by captains, coaches of women’s national teams, and international media representatives chosen by FIFA. The top three players with the most votes will be announced in December. The nominated players are Nadine Angerer (Germany), Nilla Fischer (Sweden), Lena Goessling (Germany), Saki Kumagai (Japan), Marta (Brazil), Alex Morgan (United States), Yuki Ogimi (Japan), Lotta Schelin (Sweden), Christine Sinclair (Canada), and Abby Wambach (United States).
