Al Ahly schedule two friendly matches ahead of Zamalek showdown

Al Ahly have scheduled two friendly matches during the current international break as part of their preparations for the crucial Egyptian Premier League clash against rivals Zamalek.

Football director Wael Gomaa confirmed that the Red Devils will face Libyan side Al-Hilal on September 30 before taking on Misr El-Makasa on October 3.

The two matches are intended to keep the squad in competitive shape and allow the technical staff to work on the team’s physical and tactical readiness ahead of the resumption of the league.

Al Ahly are scheduled to face Zamalek on Sunday, October 11, in the sixth round of the Egyptian Premier League, in what will be their first official fixture after the international break.

The coaching staff had initially granted the players a four-day break following the suspension of domestic competitions for the international programme.

The squad has since returned to training at the El Tetsh Stadium, with the technical team now focused on making maximum use of the break to prepare the players for the demanding fixtures ahead.

The friendly against Al-Hilal will provide the first opportunity to assess the team during the break, while the meeting with Misr El-Makasa will serve as another important test before the players turn their attention fully to the Zamalek showdown.

Al Ahly currently sit third in the Egyptian Premier League table with 13 points. They trail leaders Pyramids, who have 15 points, while Zamalek are second with 13 points.
