Kvernadze ‘yet to reach his best’ despite impressive Frosinone form, says Alvini

Massimiliano Alvini says Giorgi Kvernadze is still some way from reaching his full potential, despite the Frosinone winger’s strong start to the season.

The 23-year-old Georgia international scored Frosinone’s second goal in their 2-0 victory over Como, handing their opponents their first defeat in Serie A this season.

“Kvernadze has not yet reached his best level,” Alvini told reporters. “He is a wonderful boy. Even my mother, who is an elderly woman, was impressed by his performance.”

Kvernadze struck in the third minute of first-half stoppage time after Frosinone quickly turned defence into attack. The Georgian completed the move with a composed finish to double his side’s advantage.

The result lifted Frosinone to 10 points from their opening five matches, leaving them fifth in the table. It also set a new club record, surpassing the eight points collected during the same stage of the 2023-24 season.

Como also have 10 points but sit sixth on goal difference. The match was the first this season in which Como failed to score.

Alvini said Kvernadze’s progress was encouraging and welcomed his inclusion in the Georgia squad.

“I am happy that he has joined the Georgia national team,” he said. “He has huge room for improvement and we are working to help him get better.”

Kvernadze joined Frosinone from Georgian club Kolkheti in the summer of 2024 for 900,000 euros. He has made six appearances for the club this season, scoring five goals and providing two assists.

His development has drawn comparisons with fellow Georgian Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, who began his career in Georgia before joining Napoli from Dinamo Batumi and later moving to Paris Saint-Germain.

Kvernadze is also a team-mate of Egypt international Omar Fayed at Frosinone.
