Morocco duo Fouzi Lekjaa and Mohamed Ouahbi to join CAF Strategic Conference in Cape Verde

Royal Moroccan Football Federation president Fouzi Lekjaa and national team coach Mohamed Ouahbi will represent Morocco at the CAF Strategic Conference in Cape Verde next month.

The Confederation of African Football has confirmed that Cape Verde will host the major football gathering from 7 to 9 October 2026 in Santa Maria on Sal Island.

The event comes as Cape Verde continues to attract attention for its impressive campaign in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

Morocco duo set for CAF gathering

The conference will be led by CAF president Dr Patrice Motsepe and will bring together key figures from across African football.

Presidents of CAF’s 54 member associations, presidents of regional football federations, members of the CAF Executive Committee, national team coaches and international football experts are expected to attend.

Lekjaa will represent Morocco at the administrative level, while Ouahbi will bring the perspective of the country’s national team set-up to the discussions.

Focus on Africa’s World Cup performance

The conference will focus on two major areas aimed at strengthening the future of African football.

One of the main objectives will be to examine ways of promoting the development and sustainability of football across the continent.

The gathering will also assess the performances of Africa’s 10 representatives at the 2026 World Cup, with discussions expected to focus on how the continent can build on its campaign ahead of the 2030 tournament.
