Real Madrid and Bayern Munich open talks over Manchester United teenager JJ Gabriel

Real Madrid and Bayern Munich have begun discussions about signing Manchester United prospect JJ Gabriel, according to The Sun.

The 15-year-old is reported to have asked to leave Manchester United, with several reports suggesting that talks between the player’s family and the club have become strained.

BBC Sport says Gabriel did not train with the first team under manager Michael Carrick at the end of last weekend. The decision came amid ongoing problems in the relationship between his family and Manchester United.

Gabriel made his first appearance for the Manchester United senior side in a pre-season friendly against Atletico de Madrid in Stockholm last month.

The Sun reports that a prominent agent has arranged meetings between Gabriel, his family, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich as negotiations get under way.

The teenager strengthened his reputation by scoring a hat-trick on his first appearance in the European Youth League last week. He had been expected to make his competitive Manchester United debut against Brighton on Wednesday evening.

Manchester United host Brighton at 10pm on Wednesday in the last 32 of the English League Cup.

Gabriel was named the Premier League’s Under-18 Player of the Year last season, despite not yet being 14 years old. He also received Manchester United’s Under-18 Player of the Year award.

The reports about his future come after Gabriel’s rapid rise through Manchester United’s youth system and his involvement with the first team during pre-season. Real Madrid and Bayern Munich are now understood to be among the clubs exploring a potential move for the young forward.
