England lose five players before Nations League fixtures

England’s squad for the upcoming Nations League fixtures has been reduced by five players, according to Sky Sports.

Cole Palmer will not join the camp, while Marcus Rashford, Kobbie Mainoo, Tino Livramento and Declan Rice have also been ruled out.

England manager Thomas Tuchel is expected to announce the replacement players within hours.

The Athletic reports that Morgan Gibbs-White of Nottingham Forest has been selected to join the squad for the September international break.

Gibbs-White had been on a family holiday in Dubai after playing in Nottingham Forest’s 1-0 defeat by Coventry City on Saturday. He has since returned to England to report for international duty.

England are scheduled to play four matches during the Nations League period.

Tuchel’s side will begin against Spain, the World Cup winners, at Wembley on 26 September. They then travel to Prague to face the Czech Republic on 29 September.

England will play Croatia on 3 October before completing the international schedule against the Czech Republic at Wembley on 6 October.
