Randal Kolo Muani set for hand surgery after Juventus win

Randal Kolo Muani is due to undergo surgery on a broken finger after suffering the injury during Juventus’ 2-0 win over Atalanta in Serie A.

The France striker is expected to have the operation on Monday, according to Italian newspaper TuttoSport. Juventus are not concerned that the injury will become a long-term problem, with a three-week international break scheduled in the coming period.

Kolo Muani is expected to be available again when Juventus face Cagliari on 11 October.

The forward returned to Juventus from Paris Saint-Germain during the summer transfer window but is still waiting to score his first Serie A goal of the season. Despite that, he produced an encouraging performance in Sunday evening’s 2-0 victory over Atalanta.

Kolo Muani is the fifth Juventus player to require surgery because of an injury this season. Kenan Yildiz, Khephren Thuram, Manuel Locatelli and Kamil Grabara have also undergone operations.

Juventus restored their position in Serie A with a 2-0 victory over Sassuolo in the fifth round. The result came after they had gone two league matches without a win, drawing 2-2 with Milan before losing 3-2 to Sassuolo.

Their victory was also helped by Roma’s 2-2 draw with Inter, which allowed Juventus to reduce the gap between the clubs.

Juventus now have 10 points and sit sixth in the Serie A table, level with Como and Frosinone. Atalanta remain on six points in 11th place.
