Morgan Gibbs-White called up by England to replace Cole Palmer

England manager Thomas Tuchel has called up Nottingham Forest midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White for September’s international fixtures, with Cole Palmer left out as part of a workload-management decision.

The Athletic reported that Gibbs-White was selected to replace Palmer in the England squad.

Palmer’s omission is linked to managing his workload and the number of appearances he has made. The decision was taken by Tuchel as England prepare for a busy period involving four matches.

Gibbs-White had been on a family holiday in Dubai after playing for Nottingham Forest in their 1-0 defeat by Coventry City on Saturday.

He has since returned to England to join up with the national team.

The 25-year-old has played five matches for Nottingham Forest this season, scoring one goal and providing two assists.

There are also doubts over whether Manchester United players Marcus Rashford and Kobbie Mainoo will remain with the Three Lions during the international period.

England begin their schedule against Spain, the World Cup winners, at Wembley on 26 September. They then travel to Prague to face the Czech Republic on 29 September.

Tuchel’s side will play Croatia on 3 October before completing the international break against the Czech Republic at Wembley on 6 October.
