Milan return to winning ways with 3-0 victory over Lecce

Milan ended a run of three matches without a win by beating Lecce 3-0 in the fifth round of Serie A.

Christian Pulisic, Adrien Rabiot and Diego Moreira scored as Milan secured a convincing victory and moved up to fifth in the table with 11 points, two behind the leaders, before the international break.

The result came after a difficult spell for Ruben Amorim’s side. Milan had drawn their previous two Serie A matches against Juventus and Lazio before losing to Benfica in the Europa League, leaving the team under growing pressure to respond.

Milan took the lead in the 13th minute when Pavlovic sent a long pass forward. Pulisic collected the ball and finished into the net to score his first goal of the season.

The hosts doubled their advantage in the second half. Rabiot combined with Portuguese forward Goncalo Ramos in a series of quick through passes before finding the net in the 61st minute.

Moreira then completed the scoring 12 minutes later. The substitute raced clear after a swift counter-attack and kept his composure to make it 3-0.

The win leaves Milan in fifth place on 11 points, while Lecce remain 12th with six points.

Milan will return to Serie A action away to Sassuolo on 11 October, while Lecce will host Bologna on the same day.
