Historic win: Inter Lagos stun Enyimba for first-ever NPFL victory

Newcomers claim landmark away win as Kano Pillars and Rangers also secure victories

Inter Lagos secured the first Nigeria Premier Football League victory in their history by beating Enyimba 1-0 in Aba on Sunday.

Ezekiel Moses scored the only goal of the match in the 18th minute, giving the newcomers all three points in a landmark result.

The victory was one of several notable results across the NPFL, with Kano Pillars recording a convincing win over Doma United, while defending champions Enugu Rangers continued their strong run with an away victory.

Inter Lagos make history in Aba

Inter Lagos produced a disciplined performance to leave Aba with all three points after Moses broke the deadlock in the 18th minute.

The goal proved decisive as Enyimba were unable to find an equaliser during the remainder of the match.

For Inter Lagos, the result marked their first-ever victory in the NPFL.

The newcomers held on to their narrow advantage to complete a historic away success and claim all three points against one of the league’s established sides.

Kano Pillars end Doma United run

Kano Pillars delivered one of the day’s biggest scorelines, defeating Doma United 4-1 at the Sani Abacha Stadium in Kano.

The home side established control during the first half, with Abdullahi Musa and Rabiu Ali both finding the net to give Kano Pillars a two-goal advantage.

Doma United reduced the deficit shortly after the restart when Sadiq Rilwan scored in the 53rd minute.

Any hopes of a comeback were quickly ended, however, as Kano Pillars responded with two further goals.

Ahmed Musa and Nasiru Salihu completed the scoring to secure a 4-1 victory for the hosts and end Doma United’s winning run.

Abia Warriors claim first win of season

Abia Warriors also celebrated their first victory of the campaign after beating Sporting Lagos 2-0 away from home.

The match was played at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Onikan, where the visitors produced the two goals needed to take all three points.

Ikoi Etta and Emeka Obioma were the scorers for Abia Warriors as they secured their first win of the season.

The result gave the Warriors a successful away outing and ended their wait for a victory in the campaign.

Rangers continue strong run

Defending champions Enugu Rangers maintained their impressive form by defeating Kun Khalifat FC 4-2 in the Oriental derby.

Rangers produced four different scorers, with Preye Seikorowei, Ayuba Umar, Temitope Folarin and Waheed Adebayo all finding the net.

Kun Khalifat responded through Chimobi Igwilo, who scored twice, but the hosts were unable to prevent Rangers from securing all three points.

The result extended Rangers’ strong run and gave them an important away victory in the derby.

Plateau United complete comeback

Plateau United came from behind to beat Shooting Stars 3-1 in Jos.

Shooting Stars made the perfect start when Taheer Abubakar scored in the first minute to put the visitors ahead.

Plateau United responded strongly, with Jibrin Ibrahim bringing them level before Seiyefa Jackson put the hosts in front.

Gideon Monday then added a third goal to complete the comeback and secure all three points for Plateau United.

Warri Wolves edge Kwara United

Warri Wolves also claimed a narrow victory, beating Kwara United 1-0 in Ozoro.

Ejike Ezekiel scored the only goal of the match, giving Warri Wolves all three points in a closely contested encounter.

The goal was enough to separate the two sides as Warri Wolves held on for the win.
