Guinea and Liberia battle for final U17 Africa Cup of Nations place

Guinea and Liberia will meet in the third-place play-off of the UFOA A U17 tournament on Sunday, 20 September 2026, with a place at the next Africa Cup of Nations U17 at stake.

The match will kick off at 16:00 GMT at Stade Leopold Sedar Senghor in Senegal. The winner will claim third place in the regional competition and secure qualification for the continental finals.

Both teams had shown considerable promise during the group stage before their title hopes ended in the semi-finals.

Guinea were beaten 3-0 by Senegal, while Liberia suffered a 2-1 defeat by Gambia. Their meeting is therefore about more than a bronze medal, with the result determining the final qualifier from the UFOA A zone.

The winning side will join Senegal and Gambia as the three teams representing the zone at the next Africa Cup of Nations U17.
