Yaya Fofana leads African trio in Ligue 2’s top five scorers after seven games

Three African players have made an early impression in the Ligue 2 scoring charts, with Yaya Fofana, Pape Moussa Fall and Augustine Boakye all featuring among the division’s five leading scorers after seven matchdays.

Ivory Coast midfielder Fofana is currently top of the standings after scoring six goals for Stade de Reims. The 22-year-old has made a particularly strong start to the campaign, despite not playing as a conventional centre-forward.

Boakye providing goals for AS Saint-Etienne

The third African player in the top five is Augustine Boakye. The Ghanaian midfielder has scored four times for AS Saint-Etienne after the opening seven rounds.

At 25, Boakye brings more experience than the two other African players in the ranking. His ability to join attacks and contribute in the final third gives the Greens an additional offensive option.

Boakye is contracted to AS Saint-Etienne until 30 June 2028, reflecting the club’s confidence in him. With an estimated market value of 6m euros, he is the most highly valued of the three African players in the standings.
