Ismael Saibari earns German media acclaim after first Bayern Munich goal

Ismael Saibari made an immediate impression in Germany after scoring his first goal for Bayern Munich in Friday’s 7-0 victory over Union Berlin.

The attacking midfielder, who joined Bayern from PSV Eindhoven at the beginning of the summer, came on for Luis Diaz in the 63rd minute. Seven minutes later, the Morocco international made it 5-0 with a powerful individual effort.

Saibari used his physical strength to progress through the Union Berlin defence before producing an unstoppable finish, earning praise from several German publications for his impact as a substitute.

Sport awarded him a rating of 1.5, with one the highest possible mark in Germany and six the lowest.

“As a substitute, he quickly found his feet,” the publication wrote. “He scored after a superb solo run and, in added time, was close to finding the net for a second time.”

Abendzeitung Munchen gave Saibari a rating of 2, describing how he had replaced Diaz on the left wing before producing the fifth goal of the evening.

“He scored the fifth goal of the night after a determined individual move,” it said. “It was his first goal since his transfer from Eindhoven.”

Spox also rated him at 2 and highlighted the “magnificent solo run” that led to his goal. The outlet added that the strike followed three assists in Saibari’s first three appearances of the season.

RAN gave him the same rating and labelled him a “dangerous player”.

“In the 70th minute, he launched an irresistible solo run,” it said. “He finished superbly to make it 5-0.”

The goal capped another decisive contribution from Saibari since his move to the Bavarian club. He has played seven matches for Bayern Munich so far and has made an impact as a substitute in most of those appearances.

His performance against Union Berlin has further fuelled the enthusiasm of the German media, who praised both his ability to settle quickly and his direct contribution after coming off the bench.
