Real Madrid revive interest in 17-year-old Ajax midfielder Abdellah Ouazane

Real Madrid are once again monitoring Abdellah Ouazane after the 17-year-old Morocco midfielder enjoyed an impressive season with Ajax, according to Fichajes. The Spanish club had already reached an agreement to sign the teenager in 2025, but the proposed move collapsed after he failed to complete the medical examination.

Ouazane had been close to joining Real Madrid in July 2025, shortly after completing his development at Ajax. The initial plan was for him to begin with Juvenil A, Real Madrid’s Under-19 side, before potentially continuing his progression with Castilla.

However, with the transfer appearing almost certain to go through, the medical examination raised an issue that prevented the deal from being completed. Ouazane subsequently returned to Amsterdam and remained with Ajax.

Ajax contract and first international call-up

Ajax decided to retain the midfielder and extended his contract until June 2028. Ouazane continued his development in the Netherlands, gradually moving through the club’s pathway.

By April, he had made 25 appearances for Jong Ajax and was beginning to move closer to the senior squad. His progress was also recognised with his first call-up to the Morocco national team, marking another significant step in his early career.

That international involvement has added to the attention surrounding the midfielder, who remains regarded as one of Ajax’s promising young players. His potential progress into the first team will be an important factor in determining how his career develops in the coming months.

Real Madrid continue to follow his progress

There has been no official confirmation that Real Madrid have reopened negotiations for Ouazane. The club are nevertheless continuing to monitor his situation, with the possibility of a future move remaining of interest.

His opportunities with Ajax’s first team and his involvement with the Lions de l’Atlas are expected to be closely watched. Those developments could influence the next stage of discussions between the player and any interested clubs.
