Newcastle United hand Hull City first league defeat of the season

Newcastle United beat Hull City 2-1 at home in the fifth round of the English league, inflicting Hull’s first defeat of the season.

Joe Willock and Lewis Hall scored Newcastle’s goals, while Mohamed Ali Cho replied for Hull City.

Hull had previously recorded two wins and two draws, but their unbeaten start ended at St James’ Park. Newcastle’s victory moved them on to eight points and up to eighth place.

Hull City remain on eight points but drop to seventh in the table.

In another match, Everton secured a 1-0 victory away against Ipswich Town.

Thierno Barry scored the only goal of the game to give Everton all three points.

The result lifted Everton to nine points in fifth place, while Ipswich Town remain on six points in 11th.
