Italy reach Women’s U20 World Cup semi-finals with South Korea win

Italy booked their place in the semi-finals of the Women’s U20 World Cup with a 3-1 victory over South Korea.

The sides were level at half-time after Appiah put Italy ahead in the 16th minute, before Lee Hae-Un equalised for South Korea seven minutes before the break.

Italy re-established their advantage three minutes into the second half. K. Appiah scored her second goal of the match in the 48th minute, converting P. Fadda’s assist to make it 2-1.

The Squadra Azzurra then secured the result in the 63rd minute when Fadda finished after being set up by Cherubini.

Italy controlled much of the game after the interval and ended with 58% possession. They will face the winners of the quarter-final between Brazil and Spain in the last four.
