Fares Ghedjemis targets Algeria return after unsettled summer

Fares Ghedjemis has been left out of Algeria’s latest squad despite featuring at the most recent World Cup under Vladimir Petkovic, but his agent believes the Frosinone forward can quickly return to international contention.

The 24-year-old’s omission is understood to be linked to his lack of competitive football at the beginning of the season, following an unsuccessful move during the summer transfer window.

However, agent Sofiane Mahieddine remains confident that Ghedjemis’ absence from the national team will only be temporary.

Speaking to Maghreb-Foot, Mahieddine said the player is now competing in Serie A and should have the opportunity to build up a regular run of matches with Frosinone. The agent believes that playing consistently will allow Ghedjemis to regain his rhythm and demonstrate his ability in Italian football.

Several clubs had shown interest in the forward during the transfer window, including AS Monaco and Besiktas. Despite that attention, Ghedjemis stayed at Frosinone and remains under contract with the club until 30 June 2028.

His current market value is estimated at 7.5 million euros.

Mahieddine also expressed his belief that sustained performances for Frosinone could lead to Ghedjemis’ return to the Algeria squad. The player’s immediate priority is to establish himself on the pitch after a disrupted start to the campaign.

Frosinone’s next fixture will come in the fifth round of the Italian championship against FC Come, giving Ghedjemis another opportunity to regain match sharpness and strengthen his case for an international recall.
