Fatih Terim hails Trabzonspor for Mohamed Salah signing

Fatih Terim has praised Trabzonspor president Ertugrul Dogan and the club’s administration for bringing Mohamed Salah to the Turkish side.

Salah joined Trabzonspor as a free agent after his contract with Liverpool expired. The Egypt international has since made five appearances in the Turkish league, scoring four goals and providing one assist.

Speaking in comments reported by Turkish website 61saat, former Galatasaray and Turkey manager Terim said Salah’s arrival represented a significant achievement for Trabzonspor.

“Mohamed Salah played at the highest level for years with Liverpool, won many trophies and plays regularly. Who would not want to sign him?” Terim said.

“Any team you can think of would try to sign him for huge amounts of money.”

Terim added that clubs from Spain, Italy and England could have been interested in the forward, but said Salah had instead chosen Trabzonspor.

“Teams from the Spanish, Italian and English leagues might have wanted him. But he chose Trabzonspor,” he said.

“It is a great achievement for Ertugrul Dogan, the president of Trabzonspor, and his administration. Everyone who contributed to this achievement deserves recognition.”

Terim said Salah’s options meant the move should be viewed as particularly important for the club.

“It is not an easy task. Salah can go wherever he wants,” he said. “For a player with all these opportunities to join this team is a significant event. Therefore, I congratulate them.”

Trabzonspor are preparing to face Galatasaray on Saturday in the sixth round of the Turkish league.

Terim’s comments come after his name was previously linked with the Trabzonspor managerial position following Fatih Tekke’s departure from the club.
