Bayern Munich thrash Union Berlin 7-0 as Ismael Saibari scores first goal

Bayern Munich produced a dominant display on Friday evening, beating Union Berlin 7-0 at home as Harry Kane reached 100 Bundesliga goals, Michael Olise scored a hat-trick and Ismael Saibari found the net for the first time in Bayern colours.

Union Berlin held out for 18 minutes before Bayern opened the scoring. Alphonso Davies won possession and played the ball to Jamal Musiala, who found the far corner from the edge of the penalty area. It was Musiala’s first goal of the season.

Ten minutes later, Olise sent Luis Diaz through on goal and the Colombia international finished, but the assistant referee stopped play. Bayern were awarded a penalty in the 38th minute after Olise was brought down by Felix Uduokhai inside the Union Berlin area.

Kane took responsibility from the spot and struck a powerful effort into the net. The goal was his 100th in the Bundesliga, achieved in his 98th appearance in the competition.

Bayern quickly added another. Less than three minutes later, the ball reached Olise on the edge of the penalty area and the France international fired an unstoppable shot into the corner. The finish had an expected goals (xG) value of 0.03.

Vincent Kompany’s side continued to control proceedings after half-time. Kane was given the chance to head home from five metres, and he made no mistake, taking his Bundesliga total to 101 goals. Olise provided the assist, meaning he had been involved in every Bayern goal up to that point.

Saibari replaced Diaz in the 63rd minute and made an immediate impact. Seven minutes after coming on, the former PSV player collected a pass from Davies, turned away from his marker and used his strength to create space before firing into the far corner.

It was Saibari’s first goal for Bayern and gave the Morocco international a memorable moment in a comprehensive victory.

The sixth goal came less than two minutes later. Young midfielder Tom Bischof sent a long pass towards Olise, who controlled the ball, rounded the goalkeeper and struck the post before the ball crossed the line.

Olise completed his hat-trick in the 75th minute. Receiving possession around 25 metres from goal, he produced a long-range finish beneath the crossbar, a type of effort that is becoming a trademark of his game.

Bayern’s 7-0 victory left Union Berlin with no opportunity to recover. Olise was the outstanding figure on the night, while Saibari also marked the occasion with his first goal for the club.
