Barcelona are considering featuring American musician Tyler, the Creator on their shirt for the El Clasico against Real Madrid on 25 October at Spotify Camp Nou.
The identity of the artist or brand displayed on Barcelona’s shirt has become one of the key talking points before each meeting with Real Madrid since the club’s sponsorship agreement with Spotify began.
According to Spanish newspaper Sport, Tyler, the Creator is currently the leading candidate for the latest collaboration. However, the agreement has not been finalised and its details are still being negotiated.
Barcelona and Spotify have discussed other possibilities in recent weeks, but the American artist’s chances of being selected have increased and he is now regarded as the principal option.
If the deal is completed, the word “GOLF” could appear on the front of the shirt. It would reference GOLF WANG, the clothing brand founded by Tyler, the Creator, with the term featuring prominently in the brand’s designs and clothing.
Tyler, the Creator has a sizeable influence in the United States that extends beyond music into fashion and social media. His ability to generate discussion and engage a large online community is considered attractive to Barcelona and Spotify, who are seeking a global impact that reaches beyond the match itself.
The collaboration would continue a series of high-profile shirt appearances connected to the partnership. Drake featured on Barcelona’s shirt in October 2022, followed by Rosalia, The Rolling Stones, Karol G, Coldplay, Travis Scott, Ed Sheeran and Olivia Rodrigo.
Tyler, the Creator could become the next name added to that list, although the proposed agreement remains unconfirmed.
