Yanis Sofikitis has signed his first professional contract with Udinese, marking a significant step in the career of the 19-year-old Greece Under-20 international.
The defender, who was born in 2007, has been rewarded for his progress by the Italian club. The agreement was announced on the Instagram account of Wilders Sport, the agency representing Sofikitis.
Sofikitis will not initially join Udinese’s first team. He is expected to begin with the club’s reserve side, where he can gain regular playing time, build experience and gradually adjust to the demands of professional football in Italy.
His performances at reserve level are likely to determine his next opportunity. A strong run of form could earn Sofikitis a place in the senior squad and bring him closer to first-team football.
The move gives the young defender a new platform to develop within Udinese’s structure and demonstrate his ability at a higher level.
Udinese will soon play their fifth league match of the season against Cagliari.
