Al Ahli and Al Ittihad face fresh pressure as Jowy Elite League Under-21 leaders prepare for fifth round

The Jowy Elite League Under-21 enters its fifth round with the title race finely balanced, as only one point separates the leading pair from four chasing clubs.

Al Ahli and Al Ittihad lead the standings on 10 points each, with Al Ahli occupying first place because of its superior goal difference. Al Hilal, Al Ettifaq, Al Fateh and Al Taawoun are all immediately behind on nine points, leaving the top of the table vulnerable to change with every result.

The round also offers an opportunity for clubs further down the standings to recover from disappointing starts. Al Nassr and Al Hazem are among those seeking to improve their positions after collecting only three points from their opening four matches.

Al Ahli and Al Ittihad under pressure

Al Ahli face Al Qadsiah knowing that maintaining first place will be difficult in such a closely packed league. A victory for any of the four teams on nine points, combined with a slip by one of the leaders, could alter the standings significantly.

The Jeddah club will be aiming to protect its advantage, while Al Qadsiah are looking for a result that can lift them from 11th place. They have six points so far, making the match important to both sides for different reasons.

Al Ahli must handle the pressure created by the narrow margins at the top, with any dropped points potentially allowing several rivals to move ahead. Al Qadsiah, meanwhile, will see the fixture as a chance to strengthen their position.

Al Hilal continue the pursuit

Al Hilal will attempt to remain within direct contention for first place when they meet Al Jabalain. The blue side have nine points and are seeking another three-point haul to continue their progress towards the summit.

The same total is held by Al Ettifaq, Al Fateh and Al Taawoun. With all four clubs just one point behind Al Ahli and Al Ittihad, the fifth round could produce several changes in the order if the chasing teams win.

The contenders do not need a long winning run to reach the top. One victory, coupled with a setback for either leader, could be enough to transform the shape of the table.

Al Nassr and Al Hazem seek recovery

Al Nassr face Damac as they attempt to revive their campaign. They have three points and sit 15th, level with defending champions Al Hazem. Both clubs also have one match in hand, meaning their current positions do not necessarily represent their potential points totals.

Al Nassr will be looking to return to winning ways after a start below the expectations normally placed on a team competing near the top of the standings.

Al Hazem face a tougher assignment against Al Fateh, who have nine points and remain close to the leaders. The fixture is also a repeat of last season’s final, when Al Hazem beat Al Fateh to claim the title.

Al Fateh therefore have added motivation to respond against the champions, while a win would keep them in the title race and could move them higher if Al Ahli or Al Ittihad drop points.
