Tidiam Gomis gives RB Leipzig attacking flexibility

Tidiam Gomis has emerged as a valuable asset for RB Leipzig ahead of Sunday’s difficult away match against Bayer Leverkusen.

The 20-year-old impressed during preseason and has continued to make an impact in the early stages of the campaign, earning praise for his ability to operate in several attacking roles.

Head coach Martin Demichelis highlighted Gomis’ work ethic and tactical adaptability. “He had a very good preseason – hardworking, you could say, hardworking in different positions,” Demichelis said.

The French forward can play on either wing or through the centre, giving Leipzig greater flexibility during matches. “He can play on the right wing, on the left wing, in the centre. He simply has to be ready and fight in different positions. I am very happy with his development because you can see that he is ready,” the coach added.

Gomis’ versatility also influenced team selection in Leipzig’s 3-1 defeat at Werder Bremen. Demichelis chose Johan Bakayoko to start, knowing Gomis could provide cover across three positions from the bench.

After scoring the opener in last week’s 5-0 victory over Hamburger SV, Gomis has strengthened his case for another start at the BayArena. His current form gives Leipzig an important tactical advantage.
