Achraf Hakimi returns to training after injury

Achraf Hakimi has taken another important step in his recovery from injury as he works towards a full return to competitive action with Paris Saint-Germain and Morocco.

The Moroccan international picked up an injury during Paris Saint-Germain’s Ligue 1 clash with Brest on Sunday, September 13.

Hakimi was forced to leave the pitch in the 39th minute at Stade Francis-Le Blé during the fourth matchday of the French league campaign, with PSG confirming the right-back had suffered a minor injury to his right thigh.

However, the reigning Champions League holders has disclosed the Moroccan defender had resumed individual training on the pitch, signalling progress in his rehabilitation.

The development will come as welcome news for both the player and Morocco, particularly with the Atlas Lions preparing for their opening fixtures in the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign.

Hakimi has been included in Mohamed Ouahbi’s squad for the upcoming qualifiers, and his return to on-pitch training could boost hopes that he will recover in time to feature for the national team.

The full-back remains an important figure for Morocco, having established himself as one of the key players in the Atlas Lions’ squad.

While Hakimi will still need to complete the remaining stages of his recovery before returning to competitive football, his individual training represents a significant step forward.

Morocco will be closely monitoring his progress in the coming days as Ouahbi prepares his team for the start of the 2027 AFCON qualifying campaign.
