Tunisia name squad for Uganda and Botswana AFCON 2027 qualifiers

Tunisia head coach Moine Chaabani has announced his squad for the upcoming 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matches against Uganda and Botswana.

The Carthage Eagles will begin their qualifying campaign against Uganda on September 24 before hosting Botswana on September 28 in the first and second rounds of the qualifiers.

Tunisia have been drawn in Group H alongside Libya, Uganda and Botswana, with the North African giants aiming to make a strong start to their campaign.

Chaabani, who took charge of the Tunisian national team following the 2026 FIFA World Cup, has included a mix of experienced players and emerging talents in his first squad for the qualifiers.

One of the notable inclusions is veteran left-back Ali Maaloul, who returns to the national team after a period away. The former Al Ahly defender, who now plays for CS Sfaxien, brings considerable experience to a squad preparing for two important qualifying fixtures.

The 27-man squad includes several familiar names, with Montassar Talbi, Ferjani Sassi, Ellyes Skhiri and Mohamed Ali Ben Romdhane among the players expected to provide experience and leadership.

Tunisia will be looking to make maximum use of home advantage against Botswana after their opening encounter with Uganda, as they seek to secure an early advantage in Group H.
