Tunisia recall Ali Maaloul as Ferjani Sassi and Mohamed Ali Ben Romdhane return

Tunisia manager Moein Chaabani has named his squad for the September international break, including the return of Ali Maaloul and recalls for Ferjani Sassi and Mohamed Ali Ben Romdhane.

It is Chaabani’s first squad since he took charge of the national team, succeeding Herve Renard, who managed Tunisia on an interim basis during the 2026 World Cup.

Maaloul, the former CS Sfaxien and Al Ahly player, has been selected for the first time since the last African World Cup, held in Morocco towards the end of 2025.

The squad also includes Ben Romdhane, who plays for Al Shamal and previously represented Al Ahly, as well as Sassi, currently with Al Gharafa and formerly of Zamalek.

Tunisia will face Uganda and Botswana in qualifying for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations.

The Carthage Eagles will host Uganda on Thursday, 24 September, before travelling to play Botswana on Monday, 28 September.
