Portugal recall Cristiano Ronaldo as Jorge Jesus names squad for next international break

Portugal manager Jorge Jesus has included Cristiano Ronaldo in his squad for the next international break, giving the forward the opportunity to continue his international career after the 2026 World Cup.

Portugal were eliminated by Spain in the last 16 of the tournament, losing 1-0. The defeat brought Ronaldo’s campaign to an end at a World Cup he had previously said would be his last.

However, the Madeira-born forward has not announced his retirement from international football since Portugal’s exit.

Jesus has now selected Ronaldo for the upcoming fixtures, leaving the door open for the 40-year-old to add another chapter to his record with Portugal.
